i was not able to attend this fiel trip, but i do know that Miles Neidinger has a massive recent piece that just really captures (what i think is a) tree but its made up of tiny drinking straws and clear/black rope. its officially called "the anatomy of the palace of wisdom" but i think it should be called the drinks of life. "the marriage of heaven and hell" (which Neidinger references to his piece) i think really descibes his piece.

  1. Highlighted text is almost unreadable. BTW, He did not use any rope; straws, twisty ties (uncut reel), foil, and some wire. Although he is an electrician, this is the first piece incorporating such material. As a child he would play with wooden blocks-probably from his father's workshop- and eventually began to add other materials like Legos. His sister would also make potholders so a really hand-on family. Amazing how the things we do when we are little percolate up into our adult life. What are you doing now that will find its way into your adult life?
